Surgical Procedures - Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to reshape or reconstruct the nose for functional improvement or cosmetic enhancement. Rhinoplasty can also correct structural issues such as a deviated septum, improving breathing and overall nasal function

How Is This Procedure Performed?

This procedure is performed under general anaesthesia, using either an open approach (with a small external incision) or a closed approach (incisions inside the nostrils). During the procedure the bone, cartilage, skin or all three are addressed to refine size, shape, proportion or function.

Downtime

Initial recovery takes 1–2 weeks, with most swelling subsiding over several weeks, although changes may continue for months.

Scars

In closed rhinoplasty, scars are hidden inside the nose. In open rhinoplasty, a small external scar is discreet once healed.

Risks and complications

Potential risks include bleeding, infection, asymmetry, breathing issues, and the need for revision surgery.
